A little About Me

  • An avid sport enthusiast.
  • Managed a company softball team for over 26 years
  • Played recreational hockey on the same team for 30 years
  • Play a number of different sports, like, golf, horseshoes, ping pong, and volleyball.
  • I still play Slo-pitch baseball as well as all the other sports
  • Coached and managed a hardball team with Martingrove Baseball for ages 19+ with Martingrove Baseball for 13 seasons
  • Coached with Queensway Baseball from T-ball to Bantam for 11 years.
  • VP of Senior Baseball for Martingrove Baseball in 2008 and 2009 in charge in 3 divisions totaling over 200 youth, 18 coaches and 13 teams.

  • As an experienced canoeist and camper, I joined Scouting's Offer of Service Team and traveled to and took part in Scouting's Canadian Jamboree in Thunder Bay in July of 1997.
  •  My team's job for the week was to teach and train over 1,500 Scout aged youth of the 12,000 in attendance, how to paddle, size up life jackets and select their paddles for their canoe ride around Hazelwood Lake.
  • This was one of over 60 events that were planned over the 10 day camp. It was great to be a part of and an absolutely amazing experience I will never forget.

  • Cub Leader for the 1st Lakeshore Cub Pack for 10 years, 5 of them as the Akela or Key Leader.
  • Our pack was 30 strong and was vibrant and very active in every aspect of the program in the Lakeshore area.
  • We took part in hunger drives, park cleanups,  hikes, many, many camps, Cuborees, Kub Kar Rallies, Bowling, Popcorn Sales and trips to seniors home at Christmas.
  • I started our group marching in the Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade over 15 years ago and I still join in and walk with the Scouts in the parade every December.

  • Scouting campfires have been a love of mine for many years and I have held over 13 major campfires mostly at Woodland Trails Camp in Aurora.
  • Upwards to 500 people have been to my campfires, for which I am the Campfire Chief.
  • I set up a campfire program so all groups in attendance take part in some fashion, by performing a Song, Skit or Cheer or all 3.
  • The youth practice their events at camp and come prepared to "entertain" the throng of Scouters, youth AND PARENTS, who make the trek to camp to see their future "stars" in action.
  • I had the distinct priveledge of  being asked to be the Campfire Chief of Scouting's 100th Anniversary Campfire held at Everton Scout Reserve in Acton Ontario, on August 1st, 2007. Over 1000 Scouters attended that campfire, which was indeed a challenge and a huge success for everyone who was there.
  • I have been asked to Chief several campfires at the request of a few Old Mill Scouting groups who want to share in the experience in a grand scale. I consider it an honor to be asked to help out in this way.

  • Currently manage the Website for Scouting in the Old Mill Area.
  • I managed the Website for Martingrove Baseball from 2002 to 2009.
  • Both websites put me in charge of mass emailing to over 700 Scouters and over 500 baseball parents and youth with newsletters, and information about upcoming events.
  • In addition to these two groups, I also belong to my Port Credit Secondary School Alumni Reunion Committee and in my capacity as the Database Administrator of the 6000+ membership list, send out emails to the Alumnus regarding news of upcoming Alumni events.
  • In all, the emails alone total over 80,000 in a given year, making the need for a "system"  and a "simplified process" very important.

  • Photography has been in my bones for longer than I can remember. I photograph for fun, at gatherings, birthdays, weddings, outings, Scouting Events, baseball games, travel, Alumni Nights, and every where else I can take my camera.
  • I have a few thousand photographs on Flickr sharing them with friends and family with some public photos for all to see, in addition to over 20,000 on my home computer.
  • I create slide shows of some of my photos and put them to music creating CD's and DVD's and give them away to interested participants.
  • Of the websites that I manage most of the photos on them were taken by me at the various events. It is fun and I get a lot of enjoyment out of taking great candid shots when few others are doing the same.
  • A lot of compliments come my way as a result of my "snappy nature".
